XIX - The Authoritie of the Scriptures

AS we beleeve and confesse the Scriptures of God sufficient to instruct, and make the man of God perfect, 1 Tim. 3.16, 17 so do we affirm and avow the Authoritie of the same to be of God, and neither to depend on men nor Angels: We affirme therefore, That such as alleadge the Scriptures to have no authority, but that which is received from the Church, to be blasphemous against God, and injurious to the true Church, which alwayes heareth and obeyeth the voice of her own Spouse and Pastour, Genes. 27. but taketh not upon her to be Mistresse over the same.
