The Assembly’s revision (1647)

The Old Testament is not contrary to the New, in the doctrine contained in thema; for both in the Old and New Testament everlasting life is offered to mankinde by Christb, who is the onely Mediatour between God and manc, being both God and Mand. Wherefore they are not to be heard, which feign, that the old fathers did look onely for temporary promisese.

Although the Law given from God by Moses, as touching Ceremonies and Rites, do not binde Christiansf, nor the Civil precepts given by Moses, such as were peculiarly fitted to the Common-wealth of the Jews, are of necessity to be received in any Common-wealthg: yet notwithstanding no Christian man whatsoever is free from the obedience of the Commandments which are called Moralh. By the Moral Law we understand all the ten Commandments taken in their full extent.
