HOly Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be beleeved as an Article of the faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation. In the name of the holy Scripture, we do understand those Canonicall Books of the Old and New Testament, of whose authority was never any doubt in the Church.

By the name of holy Scripture, we understand all the Canonical Books of the Old and New Testament; which follow.
Of the Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, &c. Of the New Testament, The Gospel according to Matthew, &c.
All which Books, as they are commonly received, we do receive, and acknowledge them to be given by the inspiration of God, and in that regard to be of most certain credit, and highest authority.
